Tasmania could unveil as many as four new Tigers when it begins its Sheffield Shield campaign this week, with a 13-player squad named for the season opener.
Marcus Bean, Will Prestwidge and Caelan Maladay are all in line to make their first-class debuts, while former Western Australian batter Teague Wyllie could make his first appearance for Tasmania following his move across the country during the off-season.
The quartet provide a fresh look for the Tigers as they begin their red-ball campaign against NSW at Cricket Central starting Thursday, with a host of regular players unavailable due to Australian and Australia A commitments.
Bean has already had an early taste of senior cricket this season, making his Tasmanian debut during the One Day Cup victory over Western Australia at the WACA last month.
Prestwidge has also featured prominently in Tasmania's white-ball side, while Maladay has earned his opportunity after impressing through Premier Cricket and second XI cricket since relocating to the state.
Wyllie brings considerably more first-class experience, having played 24 first-class matches and featuring in two Sheffield Shield titles for the Warriors before joining Tasmania ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The potential debutants are joined by an experienced core including captain Jordan Silk, Gabe Bell, Jake Doran, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott and Tim Ward.
Young spinner Raf Macmillan and all-rounder Aidan O'Connor are also in the squad, alongside Brad Hope.
