Tasmanian Tigers allrounder Nicola Carey will again don the green and gold after being named in Australia’s squad for next month’s six-match international series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Carey has been selected in a 14-player squad for three ODIs against Bangladesh at Allan Border Field from October 9-14, followed by three T20 internationals against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval from October 18-22.
The selection continues the return to the international arena for the 33-year-old, who stepped away from a Cricket Australia contract in 2023 to focus on domestic cricket before forcing her way back into the national set-up.
Carey returned to Australian colours earlier this year and was part of the squad which claimed a historic seventh ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title.
Her international resurgence followed several outstanding seasons for Tasmania, where she played a major role in the Tigers’ historic WNCL three-peat, while also helping the Hobart Hurricanes claim their maiden WBBL championship last summer.
Carey has played 28 ODIs and 31 T20 internationals for Australia since making her international debut in 2018, and was also a member of Australia’s victorious 2020 T20 World Cup and 2022 ODI World Cup squads.
She is currently in Perth with the Tigers for their opening two matches of the 2026-27 WNCL season against Western Australia.
“These six matches will provide a great challenge for the side following the World Cup, with both Bangladesh and New Zealand presenting different challenges,” national selector Shawn Flegler said.
“Bangladesh will be a really good test, particularly with the quality they have in their bowling attack. It’s also a great opportunity for our batters to get exposure to subcontinent-style bowling ahead of the Champions Trophy in India.”
