The Tigers have returned to Tasmania over the weekend after completing their pre-season matches in the Northern Territory & Queensland.
Recruit Teague Wyllie’s hot pre-season form with the bat since moving to Tasmania continued during the Tigers four-day clash against South Australia in Darwin.
The 22-year-old, who played 24 Sheffield Shield matches with Western Australia and won two titles before losing his contract at the end of last summer, blasted his second red-ball century since signing with Tasmania against the Redbacks.
His unbeaten 123, which contained 17 boundaries, followed an impressive 130 for a Cricket Australia XI against Bangladesh in August.
After South Australia made 384 in its first innings, Teague’s knock was the highlight of Tasmania’s reply of 5-301 declared, with Tim Ward adding an even half century and skipper Jordan Silk 43.
Ward backed up with 46 in the second innings, while youngster Zac Curtain produced undefeated knocks of 36 and 22 across the two innings.
Marcus Bean (3-46) and Gabe Bell (3-56) led the way with the ball in the first innings, with Raf MacMillan taking 3-32 in the Redbacks’ second innings and Bean adding 2-39.
The Tigers men were also in action across two white ball matches in Darwin against Nepal and New Zealand A.
Billy Stanlake starred with 4-21 from 10 overs while MacMillan and Will Prestwidge chipped in with two wickets apiece to restrict Nepal to 192, as the Tigers chased down their target with four balls spare in a two-wicket win.
Tom Dwyer led the way with 60 from 78 balls, with MacMillan (32) and Justin Galeotti (24) provided some handy cameos before recalled Test spinner Matt Kuhnemann helped the Tigers across the line with an unbeaten 23.
In the second 50-over clash New Zealand A proved too strong, compiling 283 before bowling out the Tigers for 80.
Prestwidge took the bowling honours with 3-62, while Galeotti (19) was one of just three Tigers to reach double figures.
The female Tigers also got some pre-season action under their belts, playing three 50-over matches and one T20 in Queensland.
New recruit Ella Hayward showed she will be a handy addition for the Tigers, impressing with both bat and ball across the games.
The all-rounder took 3-42 in the second match against NSW, before backing up with 66 and 2-19 against Victoria in the last of the 50-over matches.
Other notable performances came from Lauren Smith (2-29 against South Australia and 2-34 against NSW), while in the first-up victory over SA Rachel Trenaman led the way with a fluent 61-ball 56 and Naomi Stalenberg contributed 33 and 2-18.
Emerging talents Mia Barwick (2-26 and 15 not out against SA) and Ava Curtis (2-18 against Victoria) also flashed their upside at different stages across the week.
