Cricket Tasmania announces National Indigenous Cricket Championships

Cricket Tasmania has announced it's 13-man squad for Cricket Australia's National Indigenous Cricket Championships in Mackay.

The tournament commences on Tuesday 14th April with Tasmania to play Victoria in their first match. All matches are played in T20 format and will feature games against other states and territories along with Papua New Guinea.

Aurora Energy continues to support Cricket Tasmania's National Indigenous Cricket Team through the partnership between Aurora Energy and Cricket Tasmania.

Aurora Energy's CEO Nigel Clark said "We are so proud to be Tasmania's only 100 per cent owned and operated energy retailer and to be part of the Tassie community. Working with meaningful partners like Cricket Tasmania and its National Indigenous Cricket Team helps us contribute to making Tasmania a great place to live"

The trip will include a Cultural Day where players will attend, and support local indigenous cricket programs facilitated by Queensland Cricket.

The side will be coached by Cricket Tasmania's High Performance Coach Harry Allanby and be supported by Scott Pearce (Manager) and Guy Grey (Cultural Advisor).

Cricket Tasmania's General Manager of Community Cricket Alex King said "Tasmania/Lutruwita continues to have a strong commitment to Cricket Australia's National Indigenous Cricket Carnival and we are pleased again to support the opportunity of players from across the state to participate in what is a great cricket and cultural experience."

"This program continues to go from strength each season and we are excited to increase the number of young players from our talent pathway in this program this season and this is well supported with the continuation of Harry Allanby as coach in this program for the second season."
