Greater Northern Raiders Newsletter - February Edition

GNR Female Program

The GNR Female Raiders one-day campaign has started strongly and they are currently well-positioned to once again host the grand final in the North.

Highlights for the program are:

  • Ava Curtis being selected to make her WNCL debut
  • Hayley Silver Holmes being selected in the Governor General’s XI
  • Montana Bradley being selected in 2nd XI team.

There have been some outstanding performances:

  • Emma Manix-Geeves taking 5 wickets vs North Hobart & scoring 118 with the bat, she currently has 408 runs at 68 for the season
  • Ava Curtis scored 143 vs Clarence and has 511 runs at 46.5 for the season
  • Payton Stewart, Monique Booth and Alice McLaughlin have chipped in with the ball.

GNR Men:

The Raiders Men’s team made a fantastic start to the 2025-26 CTPL season. The team dominated the One-Day competition and ultimately won the team’s first Kookaburra Cup. The T20 competition campaign was not as successful, but the Raiders remain well in the calculations on overall standings for the Two-Day finals in March with 3 games to play.

  • University at Latrobe 21st and 22nd
  • Clarence at Kangaroo Bay
  • Kingborough to finish at Twin Ovals

Copper Anthes has been one of the form players of the competition with 811 runs @ 62.38 to date, while Ben Hahn (22 wkts at 19) and Sam O’Mahoney (28 wkts at 21) have led the way with the ball.

Tom Dwyer has once again been consistently selected in the Tigers  2nd X1.

Brayden Devries, Cooper and Tom were all selected in the Country Championships team.

Another pathway player in Ethan Arnott made his debut earlier in the year for the Raiders  keeping up with the theme of youth being provided with opportunity.

Thanks to the NTCA/ South Launceston for accommodating the Raiders at late notice after UTAS became unavailable due to the Foo Fighters concert.

Coach Development:

  • Shaun Redman has received a High Performance Coaching Scholarship with Cricket Tasmania for 2026.  The purpose of the scholarship is to support his progression as a High Performance Coach.  Shaun was one of two candidates who received a scholarship.  We were really impressed with the desire he showed to pursue a career in High Performance coaching as well as his willingness to put himself out there, seek feedback and throw himself into development opportunities.
  • To date, Shaun has:
    • built a High Performance Coach Development Plan using the Australian Institute of Sports High Performance Coach Development Framework
    • been involved in a coaching capacity at GNR training sessions (and will do so for the remainder of the season)
    • Week starting 16/2/26, Shaun has spent:
      • Two days within the Tigers Shield team as a coach to get a better understanding of Elite Level cricket
      • Two days in the pathway program learning about program planning, Individual Development Planning and has coached within two pathway sessions
    • Shaun also attended the Australian Country Championships in Western Australia in January as Assistant Coach
    • The learnings and growth over the scholarship year will be an important part of Shaun being able to maximise the development of high potential talent in the North West.
  • In 2026, Cricket Australia will be launching their new look Coach Certification model which will see opportunities for coaches to receive more meaningful and relevant coach education based on where, and who they are coaching.  More information on Coaching Certification opportunities in 2026 will follow.
