A day/night Sheffield Shield match gets underway tomorrow at Ninja Stadium, as the Tasmanian Tigers host New South Wales in a crucial matchup with major repercussions for the remainder of the season.
Following a huge win away from home in Western Australia earlier this week, the Tigers now sit in third position on the Shield standings and will be looking to make the most of three home games to finish the red‑ball season.
After injuring his shoulder in the One-Day Cup match in Perth, Tasmanian Tigers captain Jordan Silk will miss the upcoming Shield match. His injury will continue to be monitored into the backend of the season, with a return-to-play date to be communicated once known.
He will be replaced by Beau Webster as captain of the Tasmanian Tigers Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup squad until Silk returns.
Tasmania will be buoyed by the return of all-rounder Mitchell Owen, who comes back into the Tigers squad after missing the last Shield match due to his involvement in Australia’s T20 squad in Pakistan.
Replacing Billy Stanlake in the squad is pace bowler Riley Meredith, who returns to Tasmania’s squad for his first Sheffield Shield match of 2026.
Nathan Ellis and Matt Kuhnemann are unavailable for selection due to the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Tasmania’s 13‑man squad for their match against New South Wales is as follows:
Beau Webster (C)
Gabe Bell
Jackson Bird
Nikhil Chaudhary
Jake Doran
Caleb Jewell
Raf MacMillan
Riley Meredith
Aidan O’Connor
