After a short turnaround from last week’s matches against Western Australia, the Tasmanian Tigers are back at Ninja Stadium to take on the ACT Meteors tomorrow and Friday.
In a Day/Night fixture tomorrow, Tasmania will be looking to return to the winner’s list after losing their past four WNCL matches.
There is still a small chance the Tigers can qualify for the 2025-26 WNCL Final, but they will need to win all remaining matches and rely on other results to go their way.
The squad sees several changes from the previous matches against Western Australia.
Keeping her place in the squad, and also named in the playing XI by Head Coach Jude Coleman earlier today, is Cricket Tasmania Pathways athlete Mia Barwick.
15-year-old Barwick has been in terrific form at the U16 and U19 National Championships for Tasmania, along with strong performances in the Wilson Homes Cricket Tasmania Premier League. She will be presented with Tasmanian Cap #93 before play tomorrow afternoon.
Kathryn Bryce also returns to Tasmania’s squad after helping Scotland to qualify for this year’s T20 World Cup, having not played for the Tigers since before the WBBL|11 break.
Returning to the Tigers squad after missing out on a central contract this season is Julia Cavanough, who has been coaching at North Hobart Cricket Club in the CTPL while performing well with both bat and ball.
North Hobart wicketkeeper Caitlin Mair also rejoins the Tigers after being selected in the squad for Tasmania’s matches against Queensland.
Ruth Johnston and Lauren Smith are both sidelined with injuries sustained in recent matches against Western Australia. Their fitness will be monitored ahead of the next match against the ACT and the following round of fixtures.
Amy Gordon also comes out of the squad due to international player regulations, with Bryce returning to play for the Tigers.
Nicola Carey and Lizelle Lee remain unavailable due to their commitments in the Women’s Premier League in India, although there is a possibility either player could return for the second match against the ACT.
