The Tasmanian Tigers return to WNCL action this week, with two vital games against Western Australia at Ninja Stadium starting tomorrow.
The Tigers will be aiming to make amends for their two losses against Queensland earlier in January, where they unfortunately went down to a strong Fire squad.
They require wins in all of their remaining games to ensure another WNCL Final and trail the NSW Breakers and Queensland Fire by 12 points, sitting third on the overall ladder with six matches still to play this season.
Returning to Tasmania’s squad is Tigers captain Elyse Villani, who has overcome her calf complaint sustained during the matches against the Queensland Fire.
Also named in the squad for their potential WNCL debuts are Mia Barwick and Amy Gordon, who will be presented with Tigers Caps No. 93 and 94 if selected.
Barwick comes into the squad following excellent form at the U16 and U19 National Championships, along with strong performances in the Wilson Homes Cricket Tasmania Premier League for North Hobart.
Gordon, who plays for Kent in the County system in the UK, signed with Kingborough in the CTPL this season and has played for Tasmania’s Second XI in matches earlier in January.
Tabatha Saville will miss these two matches due to a hamstring injury, while Caitlin Mair also comes out of the squad.
Nicola Carey and Lizelle Lee remain unavailable for the Tasmanian Tigers due to the Women’s Premier League in India and are likely to miss the next round of matches against the ACT Meteors.
