Ahead of their first game of the Women's National Cricket League 2025-26 Season, the Tasmanian Tigers travel to Adelaide to take on South Australia on Friday and Sunday this weekend with both matches starting at 10.30 am Hobart time.
The Tigers squad will be looking to continue their strong form from their pre-season matches in Queensland, where they defeated this weekend's opponents South Australia in a T20 match.
Playing in their milestone 100th WNCL matches, if selected, are Nicola Carey and Naomi Stalenberg, who both started their career in NSW before making the move to the Apple Isle.
Incredibly, Carey and Stalenberg played in the NSW pathways underage teams before debuting for NSW and then also playing in three consecutive WNCL titles together for Tasmania from 2021 - 2024.
Missing out on the first match of the WNCL Season is Amy Smith, who injured a finger during a pre-season match, and will be aiming for a return to Tasmania's squad for the second round of WNCL matches in Victoria starting on 8 October.
Potentially earning their first Tasmanian Tigers caps could be Kathryn Bryce, and Courtney Sippel, who both signed with the Tigers over the off-season.
Bryce comes to Australia in-form from an English Summer where she scored 124 runs in the ECB Women's One Day Cup Semi-Final for the Blaze and will be looking to continue her strong all-round performances for Tasmania.
Sippel had some strong performances for Tasmania during the pre-season matches and has already played 46 WNCL matches for Queensland since 2021.
Also returning after a long lay-off due to injury is bowling all-rounder Hayley Silver-Holmes, who had strong performances in the KFC T20 Max in Queensland winning the tournament with Tigers teammate Elyse Villani at Wynnum-Manly CC.
Their squad for the first two WNCL matches of the season against South Australia are as follows:
- Kathryn Bryce
- Nicola Carey
- Maisy Gibson
- Ruth Johnston
- Lizelle Lee
- Emma Manix-Geeves
- Hayley Silver-Holmes
- Courtney Sippel
- Lauren Smith
- Naomi Stalenberg
- Rachel Trenaman
