Cricket Tasmania would like to thank long-term Assistant Coach Rob Cassell for his commitment to the Tasmanian Tigers since moving to the state at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.
Cassell had this to say in a statement to the Cricket Tasmania family.
"I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my three years with Cricket Tasmania and have developed some great relationships with players and staff here.
"Ultimately, the opportunity to work in the BBL again and be back in Melbourne where my family are, were important factors in making the decision.
'I’d like to thank Dom, Sall and Vaughany as leaders of a great program, and also the HP staff and players who put their heart and soul into the Tigers over my time here," stated Cassell.
During his time at the Tigers, Cassell rejuvenated the Tigers' bowling attack at the end of the 2022-23 season following several senior players leaving the program.
Supporting pace bowlers Gabe Bell, Riley Meredith, and Lawrence Neil-Smith, to have career best seasons since being in the role at Cricket Tasmania, along with the ascension of Beau Webster’s medium pace bowling and his selection in the Australian test team, Cassell has been an important mentor and factor in their growth and development.
Cricket Tasmania General Manager, Salliann Beams, was thankful for Cassell's support that he provided the male program.
“Rob has played a crucial role over the last four years working with the pace bowling group, and the best compliment to Rob’s coaching ability was the evolution of the Tigers' bowling attack in 2023-24.
“Although our bowling attack was inexperienced and younger, they were ready and good enough to make the shield final primarily due to the investment Rob had completed with them during the two years prior.
“Rob has certainly left our bowling group in a better place,” said Beams.
Cassell departs Tasmania to take a role at Cricket Victoria.
