Ahead of a huge few weeks in Tassie cricket, Cricket Tasmania can announce their Male U19 National Championship squad ahead of their nationals next week in Adelaide.
After a successful championship last year, with Aidan O’Connor being named the Player of the Tournament and James Scott leading the bowling aggregate for the competition, along with both being selected in the Team of the Tournament, Tasmania will be looking to continue their strong performances in this year's Championship.
The squad has seen some turnover from last season's team with several players becoming illegible due to age restrictions, though this year’s squad will have more than half of the players selected having played in the U19 National Championship before which provides them with great experience.
Fresh off his Prime Minister’s XI selection and the captain of Tasmania’s squad, Aidan O’Connor, will be looking to continue his good form with the bat and ball for his state, as the Tasmanian Tigers contracted player goes from strength to strength to season.
Several players selected in this squad have also performed well in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League 1st Grade competition, and are ready to take on some of the brightest young talents in all of Australia at the championships.
Head Coach of Tasmania’s U19 National Championship squad, Andrew Gale, is looking forward to watching what Tasmania can produce in Adelaide.
“We are really excited by the team that we have put together for this Championship, and we have been impressed by the talent we have been able to include, especially from the Greater Northern Raiders with Aidan O'Connor, Ethan Clark and Lachie Clark.
"There will be some really tough matchups in several of our games, but after seeing the hard work that this 19s group have been putting in over the off-season and in CTPL matches, we are confident that we can win games and challenge some of the bigger states," said Gale.
The squad, which departs for their National Championship on Tuesday next week consists of the following:
Hayden Clark-Sullivan (Clarence)
Ethan Clark (Sheffield/Greater Northern Raiders)
Lachlan Clark (Mowbray/Greater Northern Raiders)
Tom Dwyer (Mowbray/Greater Northern Raiders)
