Cricket Tasmania have finalised selections on athletes from all around the state to participate in new look pathway programs designed to give young Tasmanians the best chance to excel in the sport of cricket.
Cricket Tasmania announce new pathway structure to further develop young athletes
Following a detailed review, Cricket Tasmania have restructured the statewide pathway to introduce new programs - the Emerging Tigers, the Cricket Tasmania Development Program, and the Hurricanes/Raiders Rookie program - a tiered structure which caters to athletes at different stages of their development.
The programs vary in length and in content, and are designed to encourage athletes to progress with the eventual goal of representing Tasmania and achieving higher honours.
Cricket Tasmania are delighted to congratulate the players who have been selected to participate in the Emerging Tigers and Cricket Tasmania Development Program, with the Hurricanes/Raiders Rookies yet to be named.
The programs, and the athletes selected in them, are outlined below:
Emerging Tigers
Cricket Tasmania’s Emerging Tigers program is the top tier in the pathway for both male and female players.
The Emerging Tigers program is designed to allow our best young athletes to experience similar aspects of being a professional cricketer, with aim of progressing onto a contract list. As well as cricket skill development, players have strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, nutrition, psychology and wellbeing support as a part of their program running from June to March.
Players will have a variety of game play opportunities, including intra-state game play, exposure to elite teams and 2nd XI cricket, and Cricket Australia National Championships.
