The Cricket Tasmania High Performance Coaching Scholarship Program is designed to identify and accelerate ambitious coaches who aspire to pursue a career in high performance coaching.
Built around the individual needs of each coach, the scholarship provides personalised development opportunities, mentoring, coach developer support and exposure to high performance environments. The program aims to fast-track high-potential coaches by helping them build the skills, experiences and connections required to progress their coaching journey.
The scholarship forms part of Cricket Tasmania's commitment to developing the next generation of high performance coaches and strengthening the future of coaching across Tasmanian cricket.
The program is for coaches who:
• Aspire to pursue a career in high performance coaching
• Are committed to their own learning and development
• Are open to feedback and willing to be challenged
• Are prepared to step outside their comfort zone
• Want to positively impact the future of cricket in Tasmania
2026 Coaching Scholars
Shaun Redman
Region: North West Tasmania
Shaun was selected as part of the inaugural scholarship intake after demonstrating a strong commitment to pursuing a career in high performance coaching.
Through the scholarship, Shaun gained exposure to high performance environments, completed Cricket Australia's High Performance Coaching Course and worked closely with experienced coaches across the Cricket Tasmania network.
Since commencing the program, Shaun has progressed into a full-time coaching role with Cricket Tasmania, highlighting the value of investing in development and being prepared when opportunities arise.
Tawanda Mapuriwa
Region: Southern Tasmania
Tawanda was selected as part of the inaugural scholarship intake due to his strong desire to pursue high performance coaching and his commitment to continual learning and growth.
Throughout the program, Tawanda immersed himself in a range of high performance coaching experiences, helping him further develop his planning, communication and coaching skills. His involvement within Cricket Tasmania's pathway programs has continued to expand as he builds experience and capability within the high performance system.
Applications for 2027
Applications for the 2027 High Performance Coaching Scholarship Program will open in late 2026.
We are seeking ambitious coaches who are prepared to take ownership of their development, actively seek opportunities to learn and grow, and aspire to pursue a career in high performance coaching.
Cricket Tasmania is particularly keen to hear from female coaches who aspire to a career in high performance coaching as we continue to strengthen the depth and diversity of Tasmania's coaching workforce.
