The Tasmanian Tigers WNCL squad has gone down by 5 wickets against the Victorian Women.
The girls were looking strong in the beginning with the opening pair of Phillips and Armitage.
Head coach Salliann Briggs discussed the strong start.
“I thought our opening partnership was positive, but we lost our way through the middle,” she said.
Things were looking up for the Tigers after an impressive knock from Nicola Carey who produced 73 runs.
“Nic Carey batted very well, but we just needed someone to stay alongside her.”
The girls managed to make a total of 198, but it wasn’t enough to keep VIC from chasing it down.
“I was really pleased we managed to take the game to the 45th over,” said Briggs.
“Especially when the VIC’s looked like they were going to get a bonus point.”
“They had a great start with the bat, but we knew even on a slow pitch against their quality that we didn’t get enough runs.”
The Tigers WNCL next game takes place on Thurday 23 January at 10:00AM, TCA Ground against VIC Women.
