WATCH: Day Two highlights from Tasmania's Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia.
The Tasmania Tigers find themselves on the back foot after Day Two of their Sheffield Shield clash against Western Australia.
Jackson Bird starred with the ball as Tasmania wrapped up the Warriors’ first innings shortly after the commencement of play at the WACA Ground, bowling the home side out for 323.
Bird claimed a tidy 4-61 from 28.3 overs, while Gabe Bell (3-73) and Sam Rainbird (2-79) also took multiple wickets.
Jordan Silk was an early casualty in Tasmania’s innings, caught behind off Matthew Kelly for three.
Alex Doolan departed shortly afterwards, his off stump sent flying by Jhye Richardson who was troubling the Tasmanian batsman with raw pace.
It was the captain George Bailey and youngster Jake Doran who steadied the ship, putting on 64 runs for the third wicket.
But when Bailey was cleaned up by Richardson for 37, it sparked a middle-order collapse which stunted Tasmania’s progress.
Matthew Wade (1) and Beau Webster (19) were further losses for Tasmania, before Doran was run out by a direct hit from Hilton Cartwright for 54.
It was an impressive knock from the 20-year-old, weathering the new ball against a quality Western Australia bowling attack and soaking up 159 deliveries in the process.
Ben McDermott (3*) and Sam Rainbird (0*) were the not out batsman before rain washed away the final session of play on Day Two.
Play will commence at 4pm AEDT today to account for the lost overs yesterday.
