The Tasmanian Tigers have been dealt their second loss of the 2017-18 Sheffield Shield, losing to Queensland by 7 wickets at Blundstone Arena.

After losing eight wickets in the final session of play yesterday, Tigers pair Sam Rainbird and Jackson Bird were given the task of adding to Tasmania’s overnight score.

It wasn’t to be however, with Rainbird caught behind on the third ball of the day – Luke Feldman claiming his fifth wicket of the innings for the Bulls and leaving Queensland a chase of 156 for victory.

Joe Burns and Matthew Renshaw set about occupying the crease for the visitors, seeing their way through to the lunch break without loss of a wicket.

Renshaw was the first to go for 17, after failing to get his bat out of the way of a Gabe Bell outswinger – Matthew Wade taking a sharp catch to his left behind the stumps.

Joe Burns was out a short time after, chopping another Gabe Bell delivery onto his stumps for 70.

A glimmer of hope was given to the Tigers’ cause when Jackson Bird had Marnus Labuschagne trapped plumb LBW, but it wasn’t to be as Bulls captain Usman Khawaja (28*) and Sam Truloff (24*) got Queensland over the line just after the tea break.

Tasmania’s next assignment will be against the Victorian Bushrangers at the MCG, starting next Monday.
