A maiden List A century for Tasmanian opener, Caleb Jewell, saw a competitive total posted in the Marsh Cup today but the Tigers couldn't restrict the Redbacks with the ball, going down by eight wickets.
South Australian skipper Travis Head and Alex Carey powered the hosts to a bonus point win with Matthew Wade's men returning to Hobart tomorrow before turning their attention to the start of the Sheffield Shield season.
Jewell (104 from 117) bedded himself at the crease before accelerating in a strong partnership with Jordan Silk (87 from 106) which took the Tigers to the brink of looking toward a score around the 280-300 mark.
The Redbacks fought back in the final 10 overs, taking 5/59 to ensure the Tigers would only post a score around the park mark of 7/255.
The Tigers didn't start well with the ball, with the Redbacks racing to 50 within six overs before Callum Ferguson fell to Riley Meredith (2/69).
Jake Weatherald (53) and Head then held a partnership of 77 before the opener was dismissed caught by Meredith.
Wade brought the field up in vein in a bid to force a breakthrough as the Redbacks raced towards their target.
The Tigers' next Marsh Cup game comes in three weeks time at the SCG against NSW following our opening two Sheffield Shield matches of the season.
