Cricket Tasmania congratulates the Captain of its Under 17 Boys side, New Town's Sam Wright, on his selection in the Cricket Australia XI which will compete in the Under 19 National Championships in January.

Wright was the sole Tasmanian selected in the squad following a stand out Under 17 National Championships in Mackay last week, amassing 271 runs at 45.17 across his six matches.

This included a century against the CA XI and 80 against ACT/NSW Country as Tasmania won two of its six matches in the fortnight-long tournament.

"It was surreal really, I'd put in a lot of hard work in pre-season with my aim to be selected for that squad," Wright told The Mercury.

Wright will now train with the Tasmanian Under 19 squad in Hobart before traveling to the National Championships in January to link up with the CA XI squad.
