At stumps on day 2 Tasmania is five for 188 in reply to Western Australia’s first innings of 371. Beau Webster is 34 not out and Ben McDermott is 20 not out. The pair has added 49 for the 6th wicket so far.
Western Australia began the second day on six for 291. Cameron Green took his overnight score of 105 on to 158 not out, it was a fine innings comprising 19 fours and two sixes, he faced 335 balls overall.
For Tasmania Sam Rainbird finished with five for 77 off 30 overs, Nathan Ellis on debut finished with figures of 3 for 120.
In reply to WA’s total of 371 Tasmania lost openers Jordan Silk and Alex Doolan between lunch and tea. Silk was LBW to Paris for 11, Doolan was caught by Shaun Marsh at Second slip off the bowling of Aaron Hardie for 24.
The score at tea was two for 91. In the final session Jake Doran was caught behind off David Moody for 19, Charlie Wakim continued to bat very well, he made 57 before he was LBW to Moody, Tim Paine made 21 before he mistimed a pull shot off Paris to Sam Whiteman at mid wicket.
Late in the day McDermott and Webster batted with controlled aggression. There’s plenty of hope for Tasmania with this pair of quick scoring players at the wicket.
Rain is forecast for at least part of the third day.
