The Tasmanian Tigers will be looking to build on their ideals start to their 2021 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) campaign, when they face the South Australian Scorpions in Canberra tomorrow.
Fresh off the back of their 20-run win over the ACT Meteors yesterday the Tigers will be buoyed with confidence, however know they will be up against a Scorpions outfit that is ready to fire, in what will be their first 50-over match of the season.
The last six WNCL matches between South Australia Scorpions and Tasmania have seen each team pick up three victories apiece; although, the Tigers are the ones with the current form, having won the last three meetings in that span. Tasmania have also won four of their last five WNCL matches on a Friday, including their last three on the bounce.
Nicola Carey will be looking to emulate her Player-of-the-Match-performance from yesterday’s clash with the ACT, in which she amassed 105 runs off 129 balls, and finished of figures of 3-39 off her 10 overs with the ball. However, there will be plenty of dangerous Scorpions the Tigers will need to keep their eyes on too.
Bridget Patterson had a batting average of 121 during the powerplay of the 2019/20 WNCL, the best by any player to record one during the campaign. Meanwhile, Megan Schutt claimed figures of 4/33 when her side last took on Tasmania in January 2020.
Launceston’s Courtney Webb is also tipped to make her debut for her new state, and will surely be keen to make an impression against her old side.
Play will commence at 10am AEDT at Canberra’s EPC Solar Park tomorrow. The match will be live scored on cricket.com.au and the CA Live app.
