This month has been a fantastic start to the season for the Hurricanes Foundation.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated through Cricket Tasmania’s membership portal which went online during early July.
We received a larger number of donations than ever before, allowing the Hurricanes Foundation to make an even bigger positive impact on our local cricket communities.
The Hurricanes Foundation Wall saw Hurricanes Café patrons vote for $250 to go towards the Hurricanes Breakfast Club proudly supported by major partners Tassal - Tasmanian Salmon.
This money will go towards providing Margate Primary School with a healthy and active Hurricanes Breakfast Club morning at their college grounds.
We also held our second annual Hurricanes Foundation Day on Saturday 21 July at Blundstone Arena's Hurricanes Cafe where we managed to raise over $1,500 thanks to 200-plus generous visitors during the 3.5 hour long family-friendly event.
Great Hurricanes partner Tassal showed their support for the Hurricanes Foundation by donating face painters on the day which clearly thrilled the children.
Hurricanes players Stefanie Daffara and Riley Meredith spent their morning teaching kids cricket 'skills and drills' as well as throwing balls to children on the Tassal Classic Catches Unit.
Parents relaxed in the Hurricanes Café with a Mercury newspaper provided by the Hurricanes Foundation for a gold coin donation.
The merchandise ‘garage sale’ stall was a huge success, allowing fans to get their hands on some major pre-season bargains, while Triple M Hobart rocked their family games booth with giant Jenga and ball target.
Thanks to our new WBBL Principal Partner MyState for putting on the BBQ sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation cooked by our very own Hurricanes Café Chef.
Over 100 people entered the raffle held on the day with Bella (below) winning her very own Hurricanes playing shirt signed by new recruit James Faulkner - a money can’t buy item.
The day was a massive success and we want to say thank you to everyone who came along and donated money to the Hurricanes Foundation which provides communities with merchandise donations, grants and educational programs while assisting those less fortunate to find a pathway into elite cricket.
We look forward to expanding the Hurricanes Foundation into something great this season.
We thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to the year ahead.
