Cricket Australia has released the official Women’s Big Bash League Fixture for WBBL|04 with our female Hurricanes playing weekend double headers in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie as ‘Tasmania’s Team’ truly goes state-wide.

Our Hurricanes women, under new Head Coach Salliann Briggs and Assistant Coach Dan Marsh, kickstart the whole WBBL Tournament in Match One on Saturday morning 1 December against the Perth Scorchers at Melbourne’s Junction Oval – newly renamed the CitiPower Centre.

Next stop is their big first home weekend double header against the Melbourne Stars on Saturday afternoon 8 December then the following Sunday morning 9 December at Burnie’s West Park Oval.

This represents a major milestone for North West Tasmania hosting their first ever Big Bash League clashes.

The Hurricanes women’s campaign then storms into Hobart for a massive ‘Four Teams Four Games’ Festival Weekend on Saturday and Sunday 15-16 December centred upon Blundstone Arena with games shown LIVE on the Seven Network.

The ‘Canes will battle their arch-nemesis the Sydney Sixers, who beat them in the WBBL|01 and WBBL|02 Semi-Finals, starting with a blockbuster Saturday night showdown under lights at Bellerive, following their annual Family Fan Day event – their only evening game all season.

It’s a marquee opportunity for the club to showcase the WBBL in Hobart as it looks to create a new home crowd attendance record.

Both teams will then resume hostilities the very next day on Sunday afternoon at Blundstone Arena with the match broadcast on the Seven Network, as the Hurricanes fight for their first ever victory over the star-studded back-to-back reigning champions.

This Hobart double header will be staged around the Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder WBBL sides also playing each other twice at the same venue on Saturday and Sunday, giving members and fans a full Big Bash Four Team Four Game Festival Weekend experience.

Our female Hurricanes squad remains in Hobart for their return home duel with the Perth Scorchers on Tuesday afternoon 18 December at Blundstone Arena – their only non-weekend Tasmanian home game.

An away trip to a yet to be confirmed venue on Friday afternoon 21 December then Sydney’s Spotless Stadium on Christmas Eve Monday afternoon 24 December then follows to battle the Sydney Thunder on both occasions.

As the WBBL|04 Tournament ticks over the halfway point, the Hurricanes women return home for their third huge weekend double header – this time at Launceston’s UTAS Stadium after last season’s bumper local crowd.

The female Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat will lock horns on Saturday afternoon 29 December and then again on Sunday afternoon 30 December with the Hurricanes men also in Launceston that weekend - BBL|08 Official Fixture Release Wednesday 18 July.

With their full seven home game allocation now exhausted, the Hurricanes women must then steel themselves for four straight away games to commence the new year before the WBBL|04 Finals Series.

First up is Thursday 3 January against the Melbourne Renegades women at a yet to be confirmed venue in Victoria that afternoon.

Next is a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon 8-9 January double header against the Adelaide Strikers on both days at Adelaide’s Karen Rolton Oval.

Our Hurricanes women wrap up their regular season on Saturday afternoon 12 January with their second clash against the Melbourne Renegades at the same venue where it all started – Melbourne’s Junction Oval or CitiPower Centre.

The top four WBBL sides then progress to the Semi-Finals on Saturday 19 January with the venues and times yet to be decided.

The WBBL|04 Grand Final will be held the following Saturday 26 January – again with the venue and time still to be confirmed.

The Hurricanes’ three WBBL ‘marquee matches’ scheduled to maximise home crowd support are Saturday 8 December’s maiden game in Burnie, Saturday night 15 December’s blockbuster at Blundstone Arena, then Sunday afternoon 30 December in Launceston with the male Hurricanes squad in town.

The Hurricanes women will have five matches covered LIVE and Free-To-Air by the Seven Network – their two Sunday home games against the Sixers and Heat, plus their three away clashes with the Perth Scorchers (WBBL Match One) then the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades.

All other WBBL clashes will be livestreamed on the Cricket Australia network website and app.

With six out of their seven home games held on weekends shared between Hobart (three), Launceston (two) and Burnie (two), the Hurricanes women under new coaches Salliann Briggs and former Tigers skipper Dan Marsh, are looking forward to capitalising on the state-wide momentum building behind the club.

And they look forward to playing some thrilling elite cricket LIVE and FREE at your local cricket stadium.

Go well Hobart Hurricanes Women for WBBL|04!
