With the exception of Ed Cowan (leaving for family reasons) all other 2014-15 contracted players will again take their spots in the Tasmanian Tigers Squad for next summer

Cricket Tasmanian Cricket Manager Andrew Dykes spoke to media following the announcement:

“Jon had a solid season without being a standout but we feel the time is right now to offer his opportunities to another player (s) in both the One Day and Four Day formats.

“Jon has been in our program for a number of years and had some success in the One Day game but hasn't really nailed down his Four Day spot and hence he has lost his contract.

“I’m sure Jon wants to play First Class cricket and unfortunately it won’t be with Tasmania but we wish him well if he chooses to move interstate to chase his dreams.

“Michael Hill was very good for Lindisfarne in the CTPL, unfortunately had limited opportunities with the Tigers but when he did play he didn’t quite grab his chances."

Dykes said on paper the Tigers have a very competitive list for the 2015-16 summer and retaining the services of experienced duo Ben Hilfenhaus and Xavier Doherty was a coup for the squad.

“I think we will see more of George Bailey, Xavier Doherty and James Faulkner (if not in the Test team) and blended in with our younger players means exciting times ahead for the Tigers,” Dykes said.

“There are still a few spots to fill and we will look both locally and interstate and in coming weeks make some announcements.”
