Elite Coaches USA Study Tour

The next wave of elite coaches are embarking on a study tour across the USA and will share their expertise with a visit to the USA Cricket Talent Combines in Los Angeles.

Beau Casson (Assistant Coach, New South Wales Blues)
Troy Cooley (National Performance Program Head Coach, Cricket Australia)
John Davison (Assistant Coach, Queensland Bulls)
David Saker (Senior Assistant Coach, Cricket Australia)
Wade Seccombe (Head Coach, Queensland Bulls)
Jeff Vaughan (Assistant Coach, Tasmanian Tigers)

…will all be hosted by Michael Lloyd (Sports Psychologist, Cricket Australia) and Darren Holder (Elite Coaching Manager, Cricket Australia) as they spend 10 days visiting various high performing organisations, as they each look for best practices and what the coaching landscape will entail in the future.

The study group will visit Las Vegas, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Los Angeles and San Francisco visiting organisations like Cirque du Soleil, the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Galaxy and the San Francisco Giants just to name a few.

Creating a culture of excellence and quality coaching are high on the agenda with internationally renowned coaching consultant and award-winning professor, Doctor Wade Gilbert providing workshops for the coaches.

Cameron McCormick, coach of PGA golfer Jordan Spieth, will also join the group for four days while running a workshop for the coaches as well.

To have the likes of McCormick and Gilbert’s caliber join the study tour orchestrates the high priority and learnings that will be developed on the study tour and implemented into Australian Cricket.

Our own Tassie representative Jeff Vaughan has been an extremely popular and successful batting mentor for the Tasmanian Tigers this season with Tim Paine, Tom Rogers and Jake Doran all publicly lauding how much his technical tutoring has markedly improved their run-scoring form during the 2017/18 Season.

Vaughan joined as the Tigers’ Senior Assistant Coach in mid-June 2017 as the last piece in Cricket Tasmania's major six-month staffing overhaul, and was instrumental - with new Head Coach Adam Griffith - in helping guide the previously underperforming Tigers to this year’s Sheffield Shield Final against the Queensland Bulls.

Bringing World Renown Coaching Expertise To Australia

In May, Dr Wade Gilbert is making his first trip to Australia where he will be conducting a Coaching Better Breakfast Series in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne supported by Cricket Australia, while visiting many elite sporting organisations across the country.

On his three week trip he will be working closely with other departments in Cricket Australia so Australian Cricket can maximise the valuable knowledge resource that is Dr Gilbert.

Sharing Our Expertise With USA Cricket

USA Cricket Talent Combines are being conducted all over the United States.

The elite coaches study tour group will be attending the Los Angeles Combine as mentioned above, where they will be joined by Andy Bichel (Assistant Coach, Queensland Bulls) and Andrea McCauley (Head Coach, South Australian Scorpions) as they cast their eyes over the participants in continuing to promote the game internationally.

Craig Hogan (Coaching & Talent Development Specialist, Cricket Victoria) will attend the Talent Combines in Fort Lauderdale and Houston while Luke Williams (Talent Coordinator, South Australia Cricket Association) and Julia Price (former WBBL Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmanian Roar Coach) will be in attendance in Chicago and New York.
