Cricket Tasmania are excited to announce the signing of local Tasmanian player Chloe Abel, who will be joining the Tigers Program for the 2020-21 Season.

The 17-year-old is a right-arm pace bowler and right-handed batsman who plays locally with the University of Tasmania Cricket Club.

Chloe started playing cricket three years ago and since then has made her mark while playing in the Cricket Australia National Championships representing Tasmania.

She spoke of how excited she was to get the call from head coach Salliann Briggs.

“It was a bit of a shock at first to get the call from Sal, but I’ve wanted this for quite a long time,” she said.

“I’m very excited to get stuck into training and try to improve on all areas of my game.”

“I’ve always been a big sports person and have always enjoyed watching professional sport,” she noted.

“Playing professionally has always been the goal for me.”

Chloe discussed her role coming into the team as a new player.

“I think it’s important as a developing player that I sit back and learn from the more experienced girls and to take in as much as I possibly can, while improving my game.”

“I’m very excited to meet the girls, and to train with them, having that many experienced players in the team is a fantastic opportunity for me to learn.”

Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2020-21 Tigers contract announcements.
