Cricket Australia has released its 2019-20 International Schedule and Blundstone Arena will again play host to the potential decider of the Gillette One-Day International Series for the second summer in succession.
Australia will host New Zealand this time around in the final match of the three-game series on Friday 20 March, 2020 having played South Africa in the third match of the series on Remembrance Day last November.
On that occasion, a record-breaking partnership of 252 between Proteas superstars Faf du Plessis and David Miller helped the visitors amass 5/320 from their 50 overs, a total which was insurmountable for our Australians - despite a brilliant century from left-hander Shaun Marsh.
This time around, it'll be the Kiwis - led by their skipper Kane Williamson, veteran bat, Ross Taylor and searing quick, Trent Boult, eager to end their tour of Australia, and Australia's home summer on a high with a series victory in enemy territory.
The match could also provide a bit of an orientation exercise for New Zealand before they call Hobart home for a crucial Super 12 fixture in the ICC Men's World T20 in October 2020.
Although Hobart will play host to just one Australian fixture this summer, Cricket Tasmania Chief Executive, Nick Cummins, says given the options for when the match could be held that the outcome is positive.
"The home schedules for both India and New Zealand meant that we would either be given a match in October or March," he told media today.
"Certainly from a fan experience point of view the weather is likely to much nicer in Hobart in March."
"Cricket is still being played from community level to professional level until late March so we believe the match will be well supported by cricket fans in Tasmania."
Tickets for the series will go on sale to the public on Thursday May 23, prices are available to view here.
