In recognition of World Non-Tobacco Day, Cricket Tasmania is proud to make Blundstone Arena an entirely smoke-free venue effective from Friday 14 June 2019.

Blundstone Arena previously had designated smoking areas within its boundaries on matchday beyond the 20-metre limit from public seating required by law.

There were also no restrictions on patrons smoking at Blundstone Arena during a non-sporting event.

"Moving to an entirely smoke-free venue aligns not only with Cricket Tasmania's desire to provide the optimum experience for all patrons, tenants and staff at the arena, but our responsibility as a governing body of cricket to promote a healthy lifestyle," said Cricket Tasmania Chief Executive Nick Cummins.

Cricket Tasmania will work with Clarence City Council to ensure this move is a smooth one.

Mayor of Clarence, Alderman Doug Chipman welcomes Cricket Tasmania’s move to make Blundstone Arena a smoke-free venue.

“This decision by Cricket Tasmania complements council’s desire to extend the smoke-free area around the arena," Mayor Chipman said.

“Council will be seeking community feedback on this initiative in the coming weeks.
