Tasmanian Tigers Men's skipper George Bailey has praised Ben McDermott and his entire 2018 JLT One-Day Cup squad as it heads into the final competition on Wednesday at Junction Oval against Victoria.
Speaking on the eve of the final at the media opportunity inside the new CitiPower Centre, Bailey spoke firstly about the Tigers returning to the decider.
"It's always nice to be in the final," he said.
"These matches, along with getting players to play for Australia are the two main goals of state cricket, so we're looking forward to it."
He next spoke highly of recently selected Australian T20 squad member, Ben McDermott who has enjoyed a fine tournament and not gone unnoticed to earn a spot on the touring party to the UAE for matches on October 24, 26 and 28 against Pakistan in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
"He's been awesome," said Bailey
"He lost about eight kilos in the off-season and returned to Tigers training with a really clear determination and understanding of his game.
"I believe he's got what it takes to play all three formats of the game for Australia.
McDermott's match-winning knocks against Queensland and South Australia feature aside a couple of other vital scores this tournament and whilst that stands out, what's almost important for Bailey is the even contribution among the group of players throughout the six matches thus far, the last of which was a six-wicket win over the Bulls on Saturday.
"I think everybody who makes up our XI has starred at one stage or another throughout the tournament to help us win a game which is great for the team," he said.
The Tigers match with Victoria begins at 10:30am and can be watched LIVE on Fox Cricket or livestreamed via the cricket.com.au app.
