Event Manager
Salary: $90,000 + Super

Cricket Tasmania is seeking an experienced Event Manager to join our Venue Operations Department.
In this role you will oversee the delivery of all major events for Cricket Tasmania, Hobart Hurricanes and Blundstone Arena; including, but not limited to First-Class Cricket and AFL.
Reporting to the General Manager – Venue and Event Operations you will be responsible for collaborating with a range of stakeholders to develop an events strategy that supports Cricket Tasmania to achieve its broader strategic objectives. You will lead a small team to deliver on this strategy through your creativity and innovative event solutions.
Key Functions
• Create and drive a culture of continuous improvement across operations and event delivery, cost management, process design and compliance
• In consultation with the General Manager Venue & Event Operations, develop and execute an annual plan to provide leadership and direction to the Event and Operations team
• Establish and embed clear processes and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of all events
• Lead and develop a small team by providing regular coaching and feedback
• Oversee the venue and event accreditation program for events at Blundstone Arena
• Support the management of Work Health and Safety initiatives at Blundstone Arena and other key venues utilised by Cricket Tasmania
• Develop, monitor, report and reconcil the Match Operations and Events Budgets including travel, accommodation, equipment expenditure, event costs and match costs
Desired Skills and Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in events management, ideally in a leadership capacity
• Significant experience in the delivery of major events (Experience in the delivery of W/BBL and/or first class cricket preferred)
• Extensive understanding of Cricket Operations
• Experience and knowledge in audio visual and event excitement techniques and delivery
• Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills
• Proven ability to manage budgets in a dynamic environment
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Demonstrated creativity and innovation in similar roles
• Ability to make effective and timely decisions
• Ability to travel with the team/s and work outside normal office hours

Cricket Tasmania is currently looking for 2 University of Tasmania graduates to join our team!
Cricket Tasmania is the governing body of cricket in Tasmania, promoting and developing the game throughout the state. As the only professional sport in Tasmania, we are excited to partner with University of Tasmania to establish a unique graduate program, to provide you with an opportunity to kick start your career and immerse yourself within the Sporting Industry.
The roles
The successful graduates will initially work in the Marketing & Commercial department, contributing to the delivery of exceptional customer service and sales to members, fans and patrons of Cricket Tasmania.
This role will give you firsthand experience in the inner workings of elite sporting events at the national and international level.
Membership Officer responsibilities will include:
• Drive customer service standards across Hobart Hurricanes and Cricket Tasmania, ensuring Members are serviced to high standards
• Assist with the design, creation and modification of Membership components, including Membership packages and overall look and feel
• Assist with the design and implementation of overall Membership strategy
• Assist and coordinate membership special events and fan day activities with marketing and commercial team
• Assist and participate in game day membership operations and service to ensure members experience exceeds expectations.
Merchandise & Ticketing Officer responsibilities will include:
• Drive customer service standards across Hobart Hurricanes and Cricket Tasmania, ensuring Members & Fans are serviced to high standards
• Oversee the development of AFL / BBL / Cricket Australia and International Ticketing builds and event order plans
• Manage the fulfillment of all internal/external stakeholder ticketing requests, including, but not limited to sponsors, league partner etc.
• Manage and participate in game day ticketing operations and service to ensure customer experience exceeds expectations.
• Manage and participate in game day merchandise operations and service to ensure customer experience exceeds expectations.
To be successful in these roles you must:
• Be a recent University of Tasmania graduate (up to 3 years post-graduation) or in your final semester
• Have an ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Have effective communication skills and an ability to relate to people of all levels
• Be Available to start working from 1 April 2019
• Hold permanent residency or an Australian/NZ citizenship (at the time of application)
• Have an ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position on a 3 year contract. Given the unique nature of the sports industry, working outside of office hours will be required including attending key match days (e.g. Hobart Hurricanes home games) as part of the Marketing & Commercial team.
