Ponting had a tough start to the 2010-11 season after captaining the Australians to an Ashes series loss on home soil.  Ponting stepped down as test and ODI skipper after the 2011 World Cup where Australia exited in the quarter final stage.  In his reign Ponting captained Australia to 48 wins out of 77 tests and won more than three quarters of his One Day International matches as captain.  After relinquishing captaincy duties Ponting found some form with the bat in the Australian tour of Sri Lanka and he will be looking to continue this form throughout the Australian summer.
