The Tasmanian Tigers have fallen to their second defeat in as many games in the JLT One-Day Cup series, losing to Victoria by 111 runs at the WACA Ground in Perth.

Victoria won the toss and elected to bat first, with the Tigers heading in with an unchanged line up from the one which played against New South Wales on Monday.

It was a tough start for Tasmania, with Marcus Harris and Cameron White combining for a century stand to open the inning.

Harris eventually departed for 75 with the score at 1-130.

White and Travis Dean then took the score past 200, before Riley Meredith picked up his first wicket in Tasmanian colours to remove Dean for 40.

Jackson Bird then struck in the next over, with Will Pucovski playing on for a duck.

While Tasmania took wickets at regular intervals in the last ten overs, the Victorians made their way to 6-325 from their allotted overs.

Andrew Fekete was the pick of the Tigers bowlers, collecting 4-48 from his ten overs. Jackson Bird also picked up a wicket.

The Tasmanian chase got off to a shaky start, with Ben Dunk and Alex Doolan both dismissed cheaply inside the first ten overs.

Ben McDermott (97) and skipper George Bailey (52) then put together a 103-run partnership to get the Tigers back in the hunt.

But Tasmania then lost 4-54, Victoria running through the Tigers’ middle order to snuff out any hope of victory.

McDermott was valiant with 97 from 124 balls, but when he was caught in the deep going for his hundred, all hope of a win went with him.

Tasmania were eventually bowled out for 214 in the 46th over.

The Tigers are back at the WACA Ground on Saturday to take on Western Australia, before heading to Sydney for their next two JLT One-Day Cup fixtures.
