The purpose of the review is to ensure that Cricket Tasmania’s pathway and High Performance structures are providing the best opportunity for elite talent to be identified, nurtured, progressed and maintained and capable of achieving the goals of the Cricket Tasmania strategic plan.
The review will include evaluation of the Emerging Tigers and respective under age state programs, along with the Tasmanian Tigers and Futures League.
Mr Hussey’s brief is to review the current structures and programs and to provide recommendations, where appropriate, to ensure those structures and programs are best practice and adequately staffed and funded.
Hussey said I am excited about conducting the review.
“I hope that I can make some conclusions that will help Tasmanian cricket in the short term but also to help to put a structure in place that creates an environment to foster successful Tasmanian cricket teams and produce future Australian players in all forms of the game” Michael added.
Chairman of Cricket Tasmania, Andrew Gaggin said we are very pleased to have someone of the calibre of Michael Hussey to undertake the review.
“The report will highlight any areas in Cricket Tasmania’s Pathway and High Performance operations that require attention.”
“It is not about personalities, rather ensuring that our players, coaches and support staff are provided with the best structures and funding to ensure their identification, progression and maintenance in a highly competitive national competition” Gaggin said.
Michael intends to begin his work with Cricket Tasmania imminently. It is expected that Mr Hussey’s report will be prepared for consideration at the May meeting of the Cricket Tasmania Board.
