WATCH: Full highlights from Day One of the Sheffield Shield clash between Western Australia and Tasmania

Tasmania and Western Australia have shared honors on Day One of their Sheffield Shield clash in Perth.

After rain delayed the start of the match, George Bailey won the toss and elected to send Western Australia in on their home deck.

Gabe Bell snared an early breakthrough for the visitors, bowling Cameron Bancroft for 18.

This brought Shaun Marsh and Hilton Carwright together, and the pair set about putting on 111 for the second wicket.

Andrew Fekete broke the partnership, having Marsh (63) caught at fine leg by Sam Rainbird.

Cartwright (61) was undone by a hooping Rainbird in-swinger which stuck him directly in front, sparking a middle-order collapse for the Warriors.

The hosts lost Mitchell Marsh (36), Marcus Stoinis (9) and Josh Inglis (0) in quick succession to find themselves at 6-217, unable to capitalize on the platform which was laid by Shaun Marsh and Cartwright.

All of Tasmania’s bowlers picked up a wicket, with Test paceman Jackson Bird (2-46 from 22 overs) leading the way.

Youngster Gabe Bell (2-68) and Sam Rainbird (2-73) picked up multiple wickets, while Fekete (1-80) also claimed one.

The Tigers will look to finish off the WA lower order tomorrow afternoon, before commencing their first batting innings of the match.

Play will commence at 4.15pm AEDT to account for time lost due to rain yesterday.
