Tasmanian Tigers Tim Paine and Simon Milenko hit half-centuries to keep the CA XI in the contest against England in their tour match at the Adelaide Oval.

After bowling England out for 293 on Day 2 of the four-day, day-night fixture, the CA XI were in trouble at 5-57 when Paine (52 off 98 balls) and Victorian Matt Short (45 off 73) combined for an 86-run partnership.

Milenko then batted with the lower order to push the total past 200, hitting 50 off 58 deliveries as the CA XI declared at 9-233.

Milenko said the pressure had been eased slightly once he came to the crease after Paine and Short’s partnership.

“Shorty and Painey got us back into the game, we were in a lot of trouble there early and they put a great partnership on,” he said.

“To come in on the back of that we had a bit of momentum when I came in which was nice.”

“We’ve got a good chance tomorrow if we can bowl well early and stay in the game and take a few wickets then we can hopefully set up a good chase of Day 4.”
