Events Coordinator

Cricket Tasmania is looking for an enthusiastic person with experience in Event Management to join their Events & Operations team.

As the Events Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating allocated cricket matches, special events and activities to aid the delivery of world-class events and operations for Cricket Tasmania.

Reporting to and working closely with the General Manager – Events & Operations, you will:

o Assist in delivering events which position Cricket Tasmania as a leading sports organisation.

o Support the General Manager – Events & Operations and Cricket Australia in the successful delivery of cricket matches, including international matches, played in Tasmania.

o Ensure all fixtures are presented in a professional and coordinated manner and unforeseen issues are dealt with in a professional and timely fashion.

o Coordinate, under the supervision of the General Manager, the presentation and organisation of domestic cricket including BBL & WBBL fixtures (including other related events) and any other State affiliated matches.

o Assist in the delivery of special events – hospitality activations and special events including the Season Launch, Cricket Tasmania Awards Night and more.

o Liaise with venue operators on the requirements for allocated domestic matches and ensure the venue readiness of allocated matches.

o Manage costs to ensure they are in line or below budget projections.

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

Essential:

o Minimum two years experience in sporting events – ideally within Australian cricket.

o Experience in delivering major events – ideally within Australian cricket including BBL & WBBL fixtures.

o Highly organised with strong attention to detail and time management skills.

o An ability to work well under pressure.

o A proactive, positive and energetic attitude.

o An ability to show initiative and strong problem-solving skills.

o Good interpersonal and communication skills.

o Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

o Administrative, organisational and planning skills, including excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office.

o Current driver’s licence.

Desirable:

o An understanding of cricket and match operations.

o People management and stakeholder engagement skills, with an understanding of cricket stakeholders and their needs within match and event operations.

o An understanding of risk and compliance.

o Willingness to work variable hours.

o Relevant tertiary qualifications will be considered highly desirable.

Cricket Tasmania is seeking an experienced Media & Digital Manager to creatively promote and market the Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmanian Cricket to build and connect our audience of Hurricanes members, fans and community through digital and mainstream media platforms.

Reporting to the Marketing, Media & Community Manager, you will be responsible for brainstorming, creating and delivering innovative and engaging digital communications across Cricket Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes.

Collaboration will be key to your success as you engage with internal and external stakeholders to implement effective media and digital marketing strategies to boost engagement and share the Cricket Tasmania story.

Your dynamic approach to content development will see you continually measure and report performance of campaigns to ensure achievement of organisational goals and increased awareness of the Hobart Hurricanes, Cricket Tasmania and Blundstone Arena through all digital platforms.

Cricket Tasmania provides an exciting entertainment proposition.

Your role will be critical in retaining and attracting a diverse and passionate fanbase, engaging the Tasmanian community and driving revenue outcomes.

In particular, you will develop and implement strategies to appeal to the key markets of women and children.

During the Big Bash season, you will also have the opportunity to leverage your people leadership skills as you are involved in the management of all aspects of media for the Hurricanes teams across all matches both in Tasmania and across the country.

Desired Skills & Experience:

Relevant degree and/or experience in media and/or digital media (preferably in the sporting industry).

Strong experience in media management and extensive knowledge of the media industry.

Strong experience in working with digital media platforms including the creation of video content.

Previous experience in developing digital media strategies.

Advanced content development experience, including proficiency in design programs.

Experience in journalism and media relations including exemplary writing skills and experience writing media releases, web articles and other media stories.

Advanced interpersonal and influencing skills.

Ability to travel with the team/s and work outside normal office hours.

Apprentice Curator

• Are you an enthusiastic, independent and motivated person with a strong work ethic?

Cricket Tasmania has a position available for an Apprentice Ground Curator at Blundstone Arena!

Blundstone Arena at Bellerive, Hobart is the home of Cricket Tasmania.

The venue is host to state, national and international cricket and AFL matches as well as a range of sporting, corporate and social events.

While learning on-the-job skills from Cricket Tasmania’s qualified and experienced Curators, this apprenticeship requires you to attend specific training with a registered training organisation to obtain your qualification.

This position will require you to be flexible with working hours including some weekend work. It will provide you with the opportunity to learn how to:

• establish turf playing surfaces

• prepare cricket pitches

• maintain the health of turf

• repair damaged turf

• correctly use fertilisers

• safely operate relevant machinery

• work with drainage & irrigation systems

• work safely in compliance with Workplace Health & Safety standards.
